Variación: Federico García Lorca
Japanese stick inks on Zerkall paper - This poem by Federico García Lorca (from Primeras Canciones, 1922) inspired me to draw on my Spanish notebooks and develop pen-based letters from painted lettering I saw on a ceiling in the Aljafería Palace in Zaragoza dating to 1492. The most distinctive borrowing is the shape of the letter A. I have made several versions of this poem and this is No.1. They are all bi-directional and could be hung in landscape or portrait orientation.
